MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS

The Merced County Office of Education believes that maximum facility life and student and employee safety is obtained through a proactive maintenance and operations (M & O) program. The M & O program includes housekeeping, repair, restoration, and renovation of Merced County Office of Education property, grounds, buildings, and building fixtures.

Further, the Merced County Office of Education believes that the facility communicates an image to the staff, students, and the public. Therefore, it shall be the policy of the Merced County Office of Education to maintain all facilities in such a manner that they are clean, orderly, safe, and as attractive as possible, within the constraints of applicable statutes, time, and budget.

Requests for M & O services shall be initiated by telephone or in writing from the Support Services branch. Upon receipt of a request for M & O service, Support Services will complete a "Maintenance Request" form and notify M & O of the request.

Non-routine facility services (i.e., construction, remodeling, etc.) shall be requested, as appropriate, using the Maintenance Work Order form. Maintenance Work Orders must be approved by the Primary Department Administrator, Support Services Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, and as necessary the Director of Business and/or the Superintendent.

Maintenance Requests and work orders will be prioritized based upon criteria such as protection of health and safety, property, benefit to the educational program, and necessary Merced County Office of Education operations.
