Funded by First 5 Merced County, Caring Kids provides services to children ages 3 – 5 years who are identified (through a social skills assessment tool) as having social/emotional delays that put them at high risk for failure to be ready for kindergarten. Of the 666 children screened in year 1, approximately 21% were identified as “at risk”.
Small group, intensive social skills instruction is provided to children with paired teacher training and parent workshops.
Some children are determined to be eligible for individual consultation by the certified behavior analyst.
Some children are jointly served in special education or referred for special education assessment.
