Constructing Connections

Merced County
The Constructing connections Program of Merced County is a project of the P-16 Education and Community Council. The project is being jointly monitored by the Merced County Office of Education Early Care and Education Department.
Constructing Connections works to create a streamlined process for child care facility financing and development in order to increase children and families’ access to quality child care and development services. It is believed that quality child care services ensure a strong local economy, reduce future government spending, and produce an overall higher quality of life for members of the community.
Constructing Connections is designed to create and/or strengthen partnerships between the child care community and businesses, real estate developers, financial institutions, and governmental entities in order to develop more efficient and cost effective quality child care spaces. The program also integrates child care facility development into city and county land use planning, community development programs, zoning and permit processes, and transportation planning.
One key to the success of the work of the Constructing Connections Program is a workgroup of local professionals and P-16 Education and Community Council members who collaborate to improve and streamline the facilities development system. This work will be critical to the ongoing efforts related to the successful implementation of Preschool For All/Power of Preschool in Merced County.
