General Overview
In 2004-2005 the Regional System of District and School Support (RSDSS) for Region VII established and funded the successful formation of a Regional Capacity Building Collaborative (RCBC) involving each county office with RSDSS aligned work. RSDSS along with Merced County Office of Education and the other county offices of Region VII in the RCBC, has determined that the first priority for our services must be concentrated with the Program Improvement Districts/LEA's.
Focus of Program Improvement Work in Merced County
- Assess and develop the capacity of Program Improvement (PI) Local Education Agencies (LEA's) and LEA's with large numbers or percentages of PI schools to support their low performing schools by engaging them in a process of inquiry that results in improved student achievement.
- Guide LEA's with schools in PI years 3, 4, and 5 to make informed decisions regarding mandated responsibilities specified in NCLB.
- Provide and broker the latest research-based improvement strategies.
- Provide coaching and monitoring to district and school leadership.
- Guide the revision of the LEA Plan to focus on support of low performing schools.
- Guide the revision of the Single Plan for Student Achievement or the Program Improvement Plan.
