Seal of Multilingual Proficiency
What is the purpose of the Seal of Multilingual Proficiency?
The Merced County Seal of Multilingual Proficiency, recently approved through Assembly Bill 815, is an award given by the Merced County Office of Education in partnership with districts in recognition of attained proficiency in English and at least one other world language by high school graduation. Appearing on the transcript of the graduating senior, the Seal of Multilingual Proficiency is a verification of linguistic proficiencies.
A message from the Superintendent,
The Central Valley is a culturally rich and diverse area of California. Many community members have varied international cultures and speak different languages. The Merced County Office of Education acknowledges and applauds students with mastery in multiple languages. The Seal of Multilingual Proficiency recognizes those students who have developed proficiency in English and at least one other world language. The ability for students to communicate in multiple languages is an asset to Merced County and positions them for success in a competitive global economy. Congratulations to these students and their successes.
