Program Overview

Adapted Physical Education is for individuals with exceptional needs who require developmental or corrective instruction and who cannot safely or successfully participate in the general physical education program, modified general physical education, or specially designed physical education in a special class

Eligibility

Adapted Physical Education is a special education service. Determination of eligibility for the program is made by an Individualized Education Program (IEP) team including the child's parents or legal guardian, after appropriate assessments and medical information have been collected and reviewed.

Referral

Children may be referred to the program by: Student Study Teams, PE Teachers, Classroom Teacher, School Nurses, Parents, or Other Interested Parties.

Itinerant Program

Children recieve services at their own school during regular school hours. Services are coordinated with the classroom and PE teachers. Equipment and supplies are provided by the Adapted PE Specialist.
