SELPA

The Merced County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) is a consortium of twenty schools and the Merced County Office of Education. The purpose of the SELPA is to ensure that quality special education programs and services are available throughout the region to meet the individual needs of special education students.

The SELPA provides staff development, information system technology and technical assistance, transition planning support, and program specialist support, and also coordinates a countywide bus transportation system for special education students.

The SELPA is governed by a Board of Directors, which is made up of the county superintendent and the superintendents of each participating school district within the SELPA region.
