Medical Assisting
The Medical Assisting Program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions as a Medical Assistant. This program includes CPR and Basic Life Support certification. All students complete an Employment Portfolio and hands on training at a local medical facility or office. Front office training includes written & oral communication, office management, appointment scheduling, and basic computer applications training. Clinical training includes anatomy & physiology, patient assessment, clinical vein-puncture, and medication administration as directed by a physician.
Instructor Bio
Kristine Lindsey
Kristine Lindsey (Kristi) has been an allied health professional since 2005, with work experience including CNA, CMT, ER Tech, and MA/EMT-B. She has taught the Medical Assisting ROP Program since 2012, and in 2019 added BLS and CPR/First Aid instructor to her disciplines, in order to provide industry specific certification to her students, as well as staff members and allied programs. Kristi is passionate about healthcare and teaches through a blend of didactic and hands on instruction.
Brenda Lima
Brenda Lima has been an allied health professional for 29 years. Her years of work experience includes Medical Assistant, Certified Nurse’s Aide, and Licensed Vocational Nurse. She gained experience working in the emergency room, clinics, and skilled nursing facilities. She has seven years’ experience as an American Heart Association CPR Instructor. She started teaching for the MCOE ROP Program in 2015 at Dos Palos High School teaching Certified Nurse’s Aide, Health Science, and Sports Medicine. She recently started teaching the Medical Assisting ROP Adult Program in January of 2023. She has also been a part-time professor for 19 years at Merced College where she teaches the Certified Nurse’s Aide Program.
