What Makes a Child Eligible for the Migrant Education Program?

To qualify for services within the Migrant Education Program, a child must have moved for economic reasons within the past three years across state or school district lines. Someone within the household must also have had seasonal or temporary agriculture, forestry, or fishing work within those same three years. The child may be from 3 up to 21 years of age, if he/she has not graduated.

Many migrant families consider California to be their home base. Others come from other states and bordering countries such as Texas, Arizona, Oregon, Washington and Mexico.
