Career and Technical Education
Merced County ROP
Merced County Career and Technical Education/ROP is a workplace learning program that has been in continuous operation since 1973. ROP students learn to work through practical experience. After basic classroom instruction, many students are placed at work sites throughout the community and are taught occupational skills by professionals in the field.

Career and Technical Education/Merced County ROP delivers innovative educational programs to high school and adult students in preparation for 21st century careers, higher education, and life-long learning.

Standards for Career Ready Practice
Upon completion of Career and Technical Education/Merced County ROP courses our students will be able to:
Apply appropriate technical skills and academic knowledge
Communicate clearly, effectively, and with reason
Develop an education and career plan aligned with personal goals
Apply technology to enhance productivity
Utilize critical thinking to make sense of problems and persevere in solving them
Practice personal health and understand financial literacy

Leadership Development
All CTE/ROP courses strive to assist students to become future leaders. Leadership training and opportunities are available to all students and include:
California Affiliate Student Organizations:
- DECA - prepares merging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management
- FFA - premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education
- FBLA - bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and
career development programs - FCCLA - The California Affiliate of FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) focuses on developing career and leadership skills for members to be successful in home, community and work life
- HOSA - Future Health Professionals whose two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people
- Skills-USA - preparing students for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations
