College Credit is Available

Course objectives involve understanding the process of developing, promoting and distributing products to satisfy customers’ needs and wants. Students will build their knowledge of marketing on four foundations: economics, communication and interpersonal skills, business management, and entrepreneurship. Students will complete a career portfolio to prepare for entry into the competitive job market. Training will include instruction in the proper completion of resumes, applications and cover letters. Interviewing techniques and skills will be emphasized. This course also provides individualized community classroom instruction in the following areas: 1) Retail Sales and Merchandising, 2) Food and Beverage Industry, and 3) Inventory Control. Emphasis is placed on leadership skills and active participation in DECA is encouraged. 

Teacher Information


Mrs. Benson is the ROP Marketing Instructor at Merced High School. She also has students from LeGrand High. She brings 16 years experience from the retail/food industry. She is a college graduate of CSUS, Sacramento, majoring in Vocational Education. Ms. Escobedo is also an advisor for DECA which is a student organization for marketing students. She enjoys reading and listening to music and is also an avid sports fan of Nascar and football. The most favorite thing to do is being a mother to her three kids!
Mission Statement

My mission as an ROP Marketing Instructor is to equip my students with the knowledge and skills to obtain a reasonable and respectable job in the marketing field. I want to help guide my students into becoming productive citizens of this diverse society.
