What is the purpose of Strive Youth Ambassador Program (SYA)?

​​

The program is meant to empower student leaders and give them a voice as they plan campus activities and promote restorative justice in practice and presentations. This class is designed to teach students restorative justice principles, leadership skills, and public speaking skills in order to advocate for restorative justice practices and serve as role models. The class emphasizes small group, hands-on experiences and presenting to the community.​



Goals and Objectives of Course: 


​Upon completion of this course, students will have ways to enhance the school environment
to prevent conflict 
and restore relations after conflict arises. Strive You​th Ambassador objectives
including, but not limited to:


  • Communication Styles & Skills: Written communication, interviewing skills, public speaking, , conflict resolution, creative thinking, evaluation, interpersonal skills
  • Personal and Social Responsibilities: Group dynamics, goal setting, interpersonal skills, self-esteem/self-awareness
  • Leadership: Different styles, procedures, ,skills ,team building, organizations, effective meetings
  • Service Learning: Presentations skills, community service, citizenship
  • Mediation and Conflict Resolution: Settling disputes /restorative discussions / mediation process
Intense focus on: Restorative Justice Practices and Improving School Climate​
