The California Department of Education named Bellevue Senior Elementary School in Atwater as one of the California Distinguished Schools of 2024.
The California Distinguished Schools Program recognizes schools who demonstrated exceptional achievement in one or more areas, including student performance and their capacity to close achievement gaps.
Atwater Elementary School District Superintendent Christy Lobao expressed pride in the achievement stating, “Atwater Elementary School District is proud of the entire Bellevue team for leading their students and school into this high honor.” Lobao continued, “Their dedication and perseverance to provide a high quality education is reflected in this recognition.”
Bellevue Senior Elementary, which historically serves students from underserved communities, was one of 293 middle and high schools selected for the recognition and the only school selected from Merced County.
“This achievement acknowledges the passion, hard work, and commitment of our Bellevue staff and their belief in all students,” added Bellevue Senior Elementary School Principal Tiffani Gong.
