26th Annual Career Industry Day Inspires Merced County High School Students

More than 1,000 Students from high schools across Merced County gathered today, Oct. 17, at the Merced County Fairgrounds for the 26th annual Career Industry Day.

Career Industry Day, organized by the Merced County Office of Education Regional Occupational Program, gives high school students the opportunity to explore career opportunities and network with industry professionals.  

The event featured representatives from a variety of career paths, including law enforcement, construction, education and health. Additionally, students had the opportunity to gain insight from keynote speaker and storyteller Kelly Barnes, as well as participate in hands-on demonstrations related to specific careers. 

About MCOE Regional Occupational Program
The Regional Occupational Program (ROP) from Merced County Office of Education, offers career-based programs in several industries to high school students across Merced County. In addition to the skills development for specific career paths, each program helps students with an employability portfolio, review effective interviewing techniques and identify sources of employment. Career Industry Day is part of ROP’s Career Technical Education (CTE) Program.
