Foundation Fundraiser Raises More Than $40,000 for Camp Green Meadows, Arts Education

Nearly 150 people attended Merced County Education Foundation’s (MCEF) annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser where they helped raise more than $40,000 in support of outdoor education at Camp Green Meadows Outdoor School and arts education programs that help create meaningful experiences for students outside of the classroom.

The annual fundraiser, held at the MCOE Downtown Professional Development Center, featured drone footage that highlighted Camp Green Meadows and an art showcase which featured artwork by students from Merced and Livingston High Schools.

Support for these programs will help with student scholarships to Camp Green Meadows and improvements to facilities. Funds will also support a variety of visual and performing arts opportunities throughout Merced County.

MCEF also supports art programs such as the Merced Symphony Children’s Concerts and the UC Merced Opera for Children. Foster Youth are also eligible for scholarships to attend visual and performing arts classes throughout the year.

“Experiences outside the classroom benefit students with improved motivation, confidence and teamwork skills,” said MCEF Executive Director Stacie Arancibia. “We were happy to welcome our supporters back to an in-person event to highlight and support these wonderful student programs.”

Title sponsors included Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU), The Hate Dust Project, Merced School Employees Federal Credit Union (MSEFCU) and Tinetti Realty Group. Tinetti Realty Group and The Hate Dust Project committed to match donations up to $10,000 each.

Additional event sponsors included El Capitan Hotel, Merced Credit Union and UC Merced.

Money was also raised in a dessert auction with desserts donated by elected officials and candidates for local offices. The dessert auction raised nearly $3,500.
