MCOE Library Workshop Unites Educators and Authors
The Library Services program at the Merced County Office of Education (MCOE) held a library workshop as part of the ongoing Library Workshop series, which brought together library technicians, teacher librarians and administrators from across four counties and invited celebrated authors and literacy advocates.
The April 29 workshop focused on how to transform libraries physically and virtually to help promote student exploration and engagement. Attendees also heard from guest speakers, screenwriter and author Dan Santat, award-winning poet and author Jason Reynolds and librarian and media personality Mychal Threets. Each speaker shared insights on storytelling and literacy.
Guest speakers also visited local school sites where they presented to students, with Dan Santat at Juniper Elementary School and Mychal Threets at Alicia Reyes Elementary School.
MCOE Library Services is a resource hub for teachers and students throughout Merced County to access digital resources, tools and materials for effective instruction and continues to provide professional development opportunities to support educators and enhance library programs.
