More than 500 attendees, vendors and presenters from across Merced County gathered on Saturday, March 29, for the 11th annual Parent Institute Dream Big Conference at Golden Valley High School.
The event, in collaboration with the Merced Union High School District, is designed to empower parents and guardians with tools and resources to help them support their child’s education, health, safety and overall development.
The day-long conference provided attendees with the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops, as well as explore resources from nearly 100 local community organizations.
The event also featured keynote speaker Ovidilio “Ovi” Vasquez, who shared valuable insights on the power of education, hard work and resilience. Vasquez shared his journey with attendees and demonstrated that despite the obstacles, individuals can overcome challenges, tap into their potential and ultimately succeed through perseverance and a strong belief in themselves.
Workshops were offered in English and Spanish and consisted of a wide range of topics, including Healthy Screen Habits, Universal PreKindergarten (UPK) and childhood trauma.
