Dream Big Conference Empowers Merced County Parents for Tenth Consecutive Year

The Merced County Office of Education, in collaboration with the Merced Union High School District, held the annual Parent Institute Dream Big Conference on Saturday, March 2, at Golden Valley High School. Now in its tenth year, the conference continues to inspire and empower Merced County parents.

The day-long event drew in a diverse audience of parents eager to enhance their skills and support their children's education, health, safety and overall development. Through a combination of training sessions, guest speakers and workshops, attendees were equipped with tools to navigate the complex barriers of parenting and create positive outcomes for their children.

The conference offered workshops in both English and Spanish on a range of topics including leadership development and strategies to promote academic success and emotional well-being in children.

A highlight of the conference was the lineup of keynote speakers who shared their insights and experiences with the audience. UC Merced Chancellor Dr. Juan Sánchez Muñoz delivered an inspiring address while renowned motivational speaker and author of “I’m Just A Kid With An IEP” Jordan Toma captivated attendees with his story of resilience.

In addition to the keynote speeches, the conference featured sessions led by See Lee, Sol Rivas, Albert Martins and Mary Pickney, who shared their personal stories and offered practical advice to help parents navigate the complexities of parenthood.
