Merced County writing festival website showcases nearly 1,000 winning entries

The Merced County Writing Festival website is now live, showcasing nearly 1,000 award-winning entries from students across the county. The annual competition, now in its 41st year, received a total of 2,855 digital submissions from Merced County students in preschool to 12th grade.

Families and community members can view the winning entries online at mcoe.org/writingfestival. Submissions were judged by educators from participating schools and included short stories, essays, poems, songs and letters.

First, second and third place winners will receive ribbons and the top two entries for each grade level will receive gold medals. All awards are delivered to school sites and districts for distribution during the end-of-year activities or presented at school board meetings.

Created by local teachers, the Merced County Writing Festival celebrates student voices and provides a platform for young writers to share their talent in poetry and prose.

For more information about the festival, visit mcoe.org/writingfestival or contact events@mcoe.org.
